WestWater Research Welcomes New Team Members in Idaho

WestWater Research is pleased to announce two additions to its team at its Boise, Idaho headquarters.

GIS Specialist Jake Whealen joins WestWater from Davis, California where he worked in water quality consulting while he completed his academic studies. Jake provides GIS analysis, cartography, and other spatial analyses for WestWater. Jake also helps to manage, maintain and develop WestWater’s various database systems.

Jake has refined his GIS skills through academic and professional work experiences. In the past, he has used geospatial tools to map watershed boundaries, analyze pesticide application and land-use trends, and create cartographic works using various datasets.

Jake holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in environmental policy from UC Davis, where he focused his studies in water resources management. Jake partnered with the California Department of Food and Agriculture to conduct a geospatial and economic analysis of pesticide application in Kern County, California for his graduate research. He also worked with the California State Water Resources Control Board to analyze and better communicate stakeholder opinions surrounding California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
