WestWater Welcomes Summer Associates in Arizona and Colorado
Joey Blumberg
Fort Collins, Colorado
Joey is a third year PhD student in Agricultural and Resource Economics at Colorado State University. He has a M.S. in Applied Economics and Policy Analysis and a B.S. in Agribusiness Economics and Management from the University of Arizona.
Joey says his interest in water markets specifically stems from the distinctive economic features of water commodities, “Water is highly mobile, its quality is variable, it is costly to extract and transport, institutional arrangements are convoluted, and it is essential for all life. The efficiency of overall water use invariably depends on the efficiency of markets, so I am keenly interested in both the valuation of water and what stakeholders consider when investing.”
Zach Bateski

Zach recently graduated with a B.S. in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics with a minor in Agricultural Business from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Zach says that he has always had a profound interest in water, which is largely due to his love of fly-fishing, “I’m eager to gain experience and knowledge as a Water Resource Economics and Finance Research Analyst in order to effectively aid West Water Research in enabling sustainable water practices through economic consulting.”
