Water Rights Acquisitions and Deal Origination

Our primary focus is supporting clients who need guidance on how to acquire and assemble a robust water portfolio. Our water acquisition engagements range in size and are designed to help clients where water is an essential and necessary part of their business plan.

We provide a process-driven, turnkey water acquisition program that ensures our clients don’t go down rabbit holes.

Finding willing sellers is essential for any successful water acquisition program, yes. It is critical, however, to execute proper due diligence before future development capital is devoted to pursuing potential sales. We believe a well-researched plan that identifies potentially available water supplies is necessary before entering the market. Our clients will understand the full range of acquisition options in order to prioritize efforts and resources.

Our water acquisition approach also strengthens each client’s market position by helping them understand relative cost and execution risks of alternative water supplies. Not all water types are of equal value for all types of water users.

We have developed and implemented small to large water right investment and acquisition programs for a broad array of clients including public water agencies, real estate developments, and agricultural and financing investment groups.

Water Marketing Services

We provide sell-side marketing services on a limited and select basis for clients with complex water assets. When applicable, we are able to add value through deal structuring or accessing capital markets through our extensive network of professional and institutional water investors.

Leveraging our decades of water acquisition experience, we assist clients by positioning their water assets to ensure broad exposure to the market and prospective buyers. We understand what buyers are looking for and how to structure offerings to maximize the value of water assets.

Much like our acquisition approach, we start with a research process that identifies and prioritizes potential trading partners. Our analysis reviews the marketed water assets, recent acquisitions, relative cost of alternative water supplies, and other details for identified potential trading partners.

Our research provides the foundation to our marketing efforts. In addition, our deep relationships within the market ensure broad exposure to identify emerging strategic buyers and capital partners.
