Amanda Long
Research Associate
Amanda Long is a Research Associate at WestWater Research and is based in Phoenix, Arizona. Amanda assists water valuation analysis, water rights and regulatory research, market analysis, and water supply assessments across multiple western states
At WestWater, Amanda’s work includes a range of water right valuations including for areas with instream flow and species concerns, private properties, potential municipal and industrial acquisitions, and regional markets for non-profit, public and private clients. Her work also involves working with complex datasets to conduct spatial, statistical, and economic analyses for current and potential future scenarios. With experience in conservation programs and policy development, Amanda also assists clients in conservation program development and policy/regulatory analyses.
Having joined WestWater Research from the Arizona Department of Water Resources, Amanda has extensive experience in Arizona water and policy. There, she assisted with the development of the 4th and 5th Management Plans, which contain the regulatory conservation programs for groundwater, and the method to assess the management goal in Arizona’s Active Management Areas. She also led the team responsible for the development of water supply and demand assessments for each of Arizona’s groundwater basins. Amanda has also previously worked on decision making tools, assisting users in understanding the social and environmental impacts to project implementation.
Amanda holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Environmental Science and Agricultural & Resource Economics from the University of Alberta.
