NOW HIRING: Controller

  • Title: Controller at WestWater Research LLC
  • Pay range – base pay $90-120k, dependent on experienceReporting/team structure – Reports to the Management Team
  • Based in Boise, ID or Fort Collins, CO

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting department operations and oversees monthly financial close as well as quarterly and annual hard deadlines
  • Present financial statements and other internal reports in a timely manner
  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and yearly key metrics on a comparative basis and identifies and reports financial risks and opportunities to management
  • Perform transactional activities including maintaining billing schedules, month-end close journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, customer deposit applications, and various accruals
  • Review and approve payroll and other benefits, and ensure that payroll related tax filings and other requirements are done in a timely manner
  • Manage and review monthly account schedules, identifying fluctuations and resolving discrepancies in reconciliations
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure accuracy of staff work through knowledge of accounting standards, best business practices, and company policies
  • Maintain knowledge of current organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards
  • Responsible for tax planning and for coordinating and resolving questions with external tax preparer for multiple state filings
  • File various tax filings with applicable state, local and federal authorities throughout the fiscal year and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Coordinate with outside auditors and provide requested schedules and information
  • Review revenue contracts and ensure accurate and timely recognition of revenue in accordance with applicable standards under US GAAP
  • Manage revenue and cash flow projections and oversee monthly and annual budgeting processes
  • Manage the payment process of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase invoices, and resolving discrepancies
  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for financial areas such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and financial reporting
  • Present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications/Skills (Required):

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments to independently meet deadlines and complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to organize and present internal reporting information to management as well as identify areas of importance and discuss changes in account balances
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and applicable regulations
  • Understanding of state tax filings and tax reporting for multiple states
  • Experience in managing and forecasting budgets
  • Highly skilled in accounting and financial processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (master’s preferred)
    • 5-10 years’ experience in accounting (public accounting experience preferred)

 

Qualifications/Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience with NetSuite or other Project Management software
  • Experience with quarterly external reporting
  • CPA preferred
