Waterlitix Director – Research & Innovation
WestWater Research is seeking a passionate and visionary leader to take the helm of our industry-leading Waterlitix™ platform. Waterlitix™ is the nation’s most comprehensive water transaction database, empowering informed decision-making in the water market.
As the Waterlitix Director, you will manage WestWater’s water market research, leading a team of analysts and overseeing every stage of the process, from data collection to dissemination.
Research Management:
- Lead and manage a team of water market research analysts.
- Develop and maintain research protocols for each asset class and market region, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Champion innovation in research methodologies and tools, constantly seeking ways to improve data completeness and market insights.
- Maintain a research schedule that balances the needs of timely market updates with ongoing consulting work.
Research & Dissemination:
- Oversee the publication of all water market research, including co-authored market notes with analysts, academic papers, and client-facing reports.
- Support academic research that utilizes Waterlitix market data to advance understanding of water and resource economics and water policy.
Market Intelligence & Communication:
- Spearhead market intelligence outreach efforts, including hosting webinars, authoring annual state of the market reports, and providing quarterly updates for clients and industry followers.
- Represent WestWater as a subject matter expert at industry conferences.
Data & Client Engagement:
- Manage data sales contracts, ensuring clients receive the specific information they need from Waterlitix™.
- Participate in client engagements as a consultant, leveraging Waterlitix™ data analysis and your deep market expertise.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure the ongoing maintenance and development of the Waterlitix™ platform, with a focus on maximizing its functionality for research purposes.
Position Requirements:
You are a highly motivated individual with a strong research background and a passion for water resources. You possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment. You have a proven ability to lead and inspire a team, and to manage time across multiple objectives..
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience.
- Master’s degree in Natural Resource Economics, Finance, or a related water management field. A relevant Bachelor’s degree (e.g., Environmental Science, Public Policy, Water Resources Engineering) may be considered.
- Experience leading research teams and projects.
- Experience with project management and data management tools.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing research methodologies.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with a proven ability to manage your own tasks and workload effectively, while also guiding and overseeing the work of a team of analysts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Experience publishing research in academic journals.
Location: Position to be in one of our existing office locations: Phoenix, AZ; Boise, ID; Sacramento, CA; or Fort Collins, CO.
Compensation: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $92,000-$124,000 + bonus + 401k profit sharing + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. WestWater can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
