Bryan David

Research Associate

Bryan David is an Associate in the Fort Collins, CO office. His project portfolio includes developing new financial tools based on the Nasdaq NQH2O Index, such as water futures contracts listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, to offset water market price volatility in California. He manages client acquisition efforts to encourage participation among agricultural and municipal entities to use derivative instruments as a hedge against operational water price risk. Other projects include the valuation of water rights and water assets in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oregon. He has developed financial statements and models monetizing water assets for private investment and public equity companies.

He joined WestWater Research from Blue Access LLC, a sustainable investment firm. There, he was responsible for deal sourcing and due diligence in clean water technology development, including A.I./digitization, precision ag, treatment/purification and collection. He also helped design and launch Blue Commons LLC, the nation’s first “Blue Bank” – a revolving fund facility that provides innovative financing structures to address gaps in water conservation, ecosystem health, and infrastructure resiliency across the West.

Previously, he interned for WestWater while in graduate school, examining the growth, trends, and opportunities of environmental water transfers across the western U.S. In 2020, he received a Master of Environmental Management in Water Resources from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Bryan graduated with a B.A. from Brown University and worked in government relations in Washington, D.C. to support funding for agriculture and natural resources conservation programs. In his spare time, he likes to bike, ski, fly fish and explore the beautiful lands and waters across the West.
